Second stop : Twizel!
Little town near Mt Cook & Lake Pukaki. Serene surroundings (most stores closed at 8 PM) and part of MacKenzie Region which declared as the International Dark Sky Reserve, making it one of the best place for stargazing.
From Queenstown to Twizel, we drove through Arrowtown & Wanaka, passing some superb hills and valleys like Crown Pass and Lindis Peak.
Then we went to Lake Pukaki & Mt Cook. Too bad it was constantly cloudy and raining when we're there. But we managed to do 3 hours roundabout hike along the Hooker Valley track, passing through all the wind and cold π️π§️π«️. I imagined the view must be amazing when it's sunny
Although it was full moonπ, our stargazing experience was awesome and insightful. I don't think I've seen such clear night sky with so many stars visible π⭐π.
